What Do The English Levels Mean?
After you finish your test, you’ll receive a level from A1 to C1. But what does that really mean? Here’s a quick guide to help you understand each level — and where you might fit!
A1 – Beginner
You’re just starting your English journey!
You can use simple words and phrases for everyday situations (like saying hello, ordering food, or asking for directions).

General English – Starter Level
A2 – Elementary
You understand basic English and can have simple conversations.
You can talk about your daily life, your family, and make short sentences.

General English – Elementary / UK Settlement A1-A2
B1 – Intermediate
You can speak and understand in most common situations.
You can write emails, talk about your opinions, and understand English at work or school.

General English – Intermediate / UK Settlement B1
B2 – Upper-Intermediate
Your English is strong!
You can join group conversations, read news articles, and write clearly. You’re nearly fluent.

C1 – Advanced
You speak almost like a native!
You can use English for study, work, or presentations — and you understand complex texts and ideas.
